Project Prajakalp

WINGS Foundation is starting a new project” PRAJA KALP”. Praja Kalp is a voluntary program which empowers the citizens to participate in governance by providing knowledge and enlisting people’s participation. Praja Kalp aims to provide ways in which the citizen can get politically active and involved beyond the ballot box, thus promoting transparency and accountability.

As we know Municipal Corporation has 50% seats reserved for women councillors. And with every election there are around 80% new councillors in VASAI VIRAR corporation. Therefore, Capacity building workshops to enhance their skill and build their capacity in different parameters. We are making genuine efforts to raise the bar for women in leadership through Prajakalp.

Concerned about the lack of awareness and apathy of the local government among citizens, and hence the disinterest in its functioning, Praja Kalp seeks change. Praja Kalp strives to create awareness about the elected representatives and their constituencies. It aims to encourage the citizen to raise his/her voice and influence the policy and working of the elected representative. This will eventually lead to efforts being directed by the elected representatives towards the specified cause of public interest.

Our goals are: empowering the citizens, elected representatives and government with facts and creating instruments of change to improve the quality of life of citizens in India. We are committed to creating a transparent, accountable and efficient society through people’s participation.

Our Work : Contributing to Global Sustainable Development Goals
